This Is How I Recharge: Back in Nature
Some people recharge by binge-watching a TV series. Others go on shopping sprees. Me? I vanish into the wild like a badly behaved Wi-Fi signal.
There is something about trading concrete for trees and screens for skies. The moment I step into the forest, breathe in fresh air, and hear the leaves rustle, it is like my brain finally takes a deep breath too.
I guess it is in my blood. I was born in the mountains of the Philippines, surrounded by rivers, birds, and the occasional goat that did not respect personal space. Now in Thailand, I have simply upgraded my scenery: beaches, national parks, and wildlife that seem straight out of a nature documentary (minus David Attenborough’s voiceover, still waiting for that invite).
As a photographer, I cannot help but see it differently. Every frame I capture is like freezing a moment from God’s canvas. The colours, the textures, the way light falls across a mountain or dances on the water, all of it feels intentional. It is as if the Creator left these moments in the wild for us to notice and appreciate.
Every time I am in nature, I am reminded that this is God’s creation. His own masterpiece. Every tree, wave, bird, and mountain is part of His gallery. And He did not just make it for display, He made it for us to experience. To slow down, to breathe, and to remember He is the ultimate Artist.
I will be sitting there, camera in hand, waiting for a bird to land, and suddenly it hits me. All of it, from the smallest feather detail to the grandest sunset, speaks of His creativity and care. Somehow, being surrounded by His handiwork makes my own worries look small and His love look huge.
So yes, this is how I recharge. Back in nature, where the only notifications are birdsong, the only signal I need comes from prayer, and the only art worth posting is already hanging in the sky.
